When feelings speak explores the relationship between technology and nature. A robot trained to read pattens enters into dialogue with a piece of fabric that possesses its own ornamental language — as if two distinct worlds, the technological and the natural, were attempting to understand one another. We sought to create a reality in which two objects become symbols of these contrasting realms — technology and nature. The project was inspired by the philosophy of technology and the idea that in today’s world, everything has agency: the human, the machine, and the material. The robot strives to comprehend the fabric’s sensibility, while the fabric responds in return, becoming an active participant in communication. When Feelings Speak is a reflection on the future of emotion and consciousness in the age of artificial intelligence — where aesthetics becomes a way of understanding how the technological and the living can coexist.
